Steve Hier, Chair

Steve served on the VSBIT Board from 1996 to 2002; and rejoined the Board in 2005. He is presently employed as the Business Manager for the Springfield School District, a position he has held since 1980. He is past President of the Vermont Association of School Business Officials. Steve serves on the Board of Deacons and as Moderator for the Ascutney Union Church. He also served on the Weathersfield School Board for nine years, six as its Chair. Steve also serves on the Board of the Vermont Education Health Initiative. Steve received a BA in Accounting from Johnson State College.

Laura Soares, Vice Chair

Laura joined the VSBIT Board in 2004. She has been a member of the Randolph School Board since 1993 and is currently the Chair of the Orange Southwest Supervisory Union Board. She is a Member at Large of the Vermont School Boards Association, having served as President from 2001-2003. Laura served on the Board of the Vermont Educational Leadership Alliance, and then as the VELA Director from 2004-2005. She also serves as a Board Member for the Vermont Education Health Initiative. Laura holds degrees in elementary and special education from Boston College and taught six years in Texas.

John Everitt

John joined the VSBIT Board in 2006. He currently serves the City of South Burlington as Superintendent of Schools; and was the former Superintendent of Schools for the Montpelier School District. John has worked in Vermont public schools since 1977. He has been a special education teacher and administrator, elementary teacher, math teacher, principal and assistant superintendent for curriculum. John received an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Colorado and a Masters Degree focusing on special education from the University of Vermont.

Raymond Proulx

Ray served on the VSBIT Board from 1986 to 1997; and rejoined the Board in 2002. He has been an educator in Vermont for over 40 years. He served as a central office administrator for twenty three years; and currently teaches at UVM, serves as the VT Liaison for the Northeast Regional Lab at Brown University, is the Director of Leadership and Vermont Institutes and works with numerous school districts throughout Vermont. Ray received a Doctorate in Education at the University of Vermont.

Robert Giroux

Bob first joined the VSBIT Board in 2004 while serving as the business manager for Lamoille North Supervisory Union. He rejoined the Board in 2007. bob is currently employed by the Vermont Municipal Bond Bank and the Vermont Education Health & buildings Financing Agency.. Bob serves as the Executive Director for the Bond Bank and Finance Agency. Bob serves as the Vice President of the United Way of Lamoille County. He holds a Master of Science in Administration from Saint Michael's College.
